Efficient use of Energy

In the 75th period, in addition to calculating the crude oil equivalent of electricity and gas, we also calculated greenhouse gas emissions for the first time. The energy consumption of the entire group increased due to business growth, but at the same time, we promoted various reduction measures.
In 2015, Gakken Tokyo Headquarters began using carbonoffsetting multi-function printers that emit less CO2. We expect a CO2 reduction of 295 tons in five years as a result. Further, in September 2019, most of the lighting was replaced with LED lighting. Since the relocation in 2008, gradation blinds have been installed to introduce appropriate lighting in rooms, and at the same time reduce the burden of heating and cooling by insulating rooms so that excessive changes in temperature are less likely to occur. The use of LED lighting has created a building environment that further contributes to the reduction of CO2.
In terms of improving operational efficiency, we reduced the amount of electricity used by turning off unnecessary lighting during overtime work and making sure everyone leaves by 22:00. Also, Gak ken Logistics collaborated with competing companies to improve the efficiency of delivery. By storing childcare products from various companies in one place and using consolidated shipping, we reduced energy consumption from unnecessary deliveries without changing the services to our customers.

Environmental Performance of Sustainable Buildings(SYSCARE)

SYSCARE, which conducts planning, design and consulting services for elderly care facilities, provides support for improving the environmental performance of buildings by reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
As of January 1, 2020, it has supported 61 applications for energy conservation measures and 161 applications for BELS evaluation, a system under which third-party organizations objectively evaluate and indicate the primary energy consumption of non-residential buildings.
It also provides consulting services for buildings that aim to achieve a zero annual primary energy consumption by saving and creating energy while achieving a comfortable indoor environment(ZEB).
